2 important studies evoked last class: smith and vermes. Joachim jeremias; jesus is unique because addresses god as father . Our father is common, but jesus not collective, but personally as father . Vermes says those three form an ideal type in pre- rabbinic judaism. All three have that speech habit and associate it with miracle traditions. Honi; treats god as a child he uses. For both critics of how the miracles are done, they were both good at manipulating them. Jeremias and vermes said who they thought what jesus was. Still accept that it is national religion run by priest. Dead sea scroll: don"t like priests + want to replace them.
