Original goal was to reintegrate/return jews, few countries wanted to take in jews. Most eventually go to us, australia, lat amer, israel. Sports, music used to est some sense of normalcy in dp camps. Huge spike in marriages/baby boom in dps camp. Having a family seen as act of resistance. Red army did most work in pushing german forces back/liberating eastern eur. Ussr feels entitled to eastern eur, bc it had liberated and lost 27 mil in the process. Communists hav increasing control over eastern eur, communist countries had soviet puppet group (exception, yugoslavia)
