Start with indigenous people, then spanish and portuguese arrive, then africans who were forced slavery and resistance (from african and indigenous people) Colonisation, dependency a lot in latin america depends on a colonial heritage. Indigenous people a diversity of people, ways of life, languages, cultures, economic status. It is kind of one entity but there are a lot if differences. Operation condor (20th century) counterrevolutionary pact between south american countries targeted union leaders and activists extradition treaties led to disappearance of people (us involved) Melting pot of cultures and landscapes; along with europeans, africans and indigenous people, asian populations were sent to (and then immigrated to) latin america as well. Unity: a lot of people in latin america share the same values; united by languages, by struggles (colonisation, totalitarians)
