Grapevine effect often occurs when people are chatting (water cooler gossip) People omit details because they forget them or don"t think they"re important/logical. Listening and hearing are not the same thing. Listening is not natural process of a passive activity. Think with the speaker, listen for total meaning, respond to feelings, note all cues, test for understanding.
