Duvet is a type of ensemble singing. When a section repeats, the two singers are alternating lines (same as b section). Section 2: they sing together in harmony. The main difference between recitative and duvet is musical. The latter one has clear melody and larger instrumental forces. "music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy"". Moved to vienna, austria at age 21 to study with haydn. Virtuoso piano player; performed his own compositions. Career and success facilitated by the emergence of the middle-class, the rise of public concert life, and the sales from music print/publishing. Suffered from depression and was socially isolated because of his deteriorating hearing loss celebrity in his own lifetime. Worked beyond the usual system of patronage, forging a path as a freelance composer. E. g. refused to pander to mainstream, amateur tastes or appeal to the lowest common denominator in his composition. Prolific, writing in nearly all genres of music.
