Document Summary

The cns wouldn"t be very useful it did not have inputs and outputs. The cell bodies are located outside of the cns. They send their exons into the spinal cord and brain. Cell bodies in the cns, send exons out. Some nerves do not have efferents (example, optic nerve) Somatic efferent (type of efferent we"re focusing on this class) A nerve is a bunch of exons traveling together. The spinal cord goes up and in the base of the spine there is the brainstem. Above the brainstem there is the thalamus, which is involved in the sensory processing. The corpus callosum is the major interconnection between the hemispheres. Below the cortex there is the cerebellum, which is involved in motor control. The space between each gyrus is called sulcus. The only sulcus we need to care about is the central sulcus.
