Argues for a notion of communicative sexuality that would allow for the criminalization of non-communicative sex among strangers. Her aims are educative in regards to our society"s understanding of sex, as well as reformist in regards to policy and law. Date rape = non-consensual sex that does not involve physical injury or the threat thereof. Pineau"s strategy is twofold: critique of normative seduction as both so broad that it includes at least some non-consensual acts and dependent on gendered myths. She proceeds to break down these myths supporting this: develop an account of communicative sexuality as desirable and good sex". Communicative sexuality involves respect: we take the other"s sexual ends as our own (recall kant). Finding out these ends requires communication, thus partners have a duty to communicate. Established criteria for reasonableness" makes claim as to what desirable sex is (fundamental requisite of communication; if lacking is immoral) Pineau offers distinction between bdsm and aggressive seduction ongoing consent in bdsm.
