Document Summary

Essay topics will be posted on mycourses this weekend! He doesn"t think that there is a way to make consciousness into an object. When we try to grasp it we make the previous consciousness into the object. We do not grasp it within its own activity, without making it into an object. Consciousness is nothingness for sarte: doesn"t mean nothingness as a thing but rather as an activity, nothingness then becomes an activity, always this othering. Consciousness is not it"s past but the mode of being it. In the case of consciousness existence and essence are reversed that existence is what defines its being and character: human existence has a kind of absolute freedom, consciousness will take self and define its own limitations. Follows up on the account of consciousness as anailiation. Intentionality does not only apply to the past but to the temporal sturtue of the consciousnesness.
