Mental illness results from bad parenting or from personal weakness. People with mental illness are unable to lead productive lives. Mental illness: a clinically signi cant behavioural or psychological disorder is an ongoing dysfunctional pattern of thought, emotion, and behaviour that causes signi cant distress or disability or signi cant increased risk of suffering death, pain, or important loss of freedom. Dms-5: a classi cation system for psychological disorders, containing criteria for disorders and rules for each condition. It provides information about etiology of disorders, co-occurence of multiple symptoms, duration, severity, impairment, and exclusion criteria. There are 18 categories of disorders (>300 distinct labels). It"s also a valuable source of information concerning the characteristics, such as the prevalence (% of people within a population who have a speci c mental disorder), of many mental disorders.
