Using past stories or solutions to solve a current problem. Similar to insight: you see a new link between unconnected thoughts/experiences. Archimedes [given job to tell if king"s crown was made of gold. Used analogical transfer [comes with insight] when he figured out he could weigh the crown using water. [a lot of these creativity tasks overlap with insight problems] This task is for how people can overcome fixedness. Asked to come up with as many uses as possible for a given item. Gives you the range of ideas a person comes up with when doing such as task. Originality = responses are compared to the responses from all of the people you gave the test to. The answers from one person is compared to all other answers. Come up with a single association to link three presumably unrelated words. Stage 1: asked to draw an image with a basic shape.
