PSYC 302 Lecture Notes - Lecture 18: Publication Bias, Pre-Clinical Development, Clinicaltrials.Gov
Document Summary
45 mc questions and 6 non-mc questions; only a little longer than midterms. Breakdown: 60% from after midterm 2, 30% from first 2 midterms, 10% on readings and integration of all material: no direct questions on readings 6 and 20. It is critical as pain is studied to lead to analgesic development. Opioids, naids and anti-depressants with nnt of 3, 5, 7 and side effects are not good enough. We need novel drugs but this is difficult to do. As for preclinical trial, there is phase 1, 2, and 3 after which you wait for fda approval; if decision is yes, you can put your drug on the market which itself takes about 10 years. If drug is safe enough and if it works better than placebo, then fda likely to approve it. Recently, more drugs are biologics (antibodies) and therefore has to be injected. Percentage of compounds that are still alive after each phase.
