Although physicians are still the main providers of health care, canadians are increasingly receiving much of their primary care from individuals other than physicians, including nurse practitioners and complementary and alternative medicine providers. Canada is currently aiming to introduce more physician assistants into health care settings in order to alleviate strain on the healthcare system due to physician shortages. The first year is seminar-based and the second year is clinical training. Other medical professionals who fall under the title of healthcare providers are: physiotherapists, social workers, nutritionists, occupational therapists, psychologists. As a result, communication issues are not only the concern of the physician. What criticism do health providers normally receive? jargon little feedback: depersonalized care. Quality of communication with a provider is important to patients. Poor patient-provider communication has been tied to problems such as non-adherence to treatment and failure to disclose the use of alternative treatments and therapies.
