Providers: physicians + nurse + complementary & alternative medicine providers. Provide care across diverse settings: e. g. community clinics, health centres in hospitals, nursing homes, and home care settings. Practice emphasizes health promotion and illness prevention. Must often explain disorders and their origins, diagnoses, prognoses, and treatments. Even in medical practices that do not employ nurse practitioners, much patient education falls to nurses frequently give treatment instructions or screen patients before they are seen by a physician. Work autonomously & collaboratively with other health care providers (nursing outposts, community health centres, emergency departments, clinics, specialty units, and long-term care facilities) May also deliver advice remotely via telehealth services. Telehealth: a variety of services that use communication technology to connect people with health services delivery of advice, information, consultation, diagnoses, treatment and family visiting using audio-video conferencing and via telephone. Role: complement, not replace other health care providers. Use is on the rise, more than tripling in canada.
