PSYC 332 Lecture 21: Lecture 21
Document Summary
What are the most important features of life stories? (how can we characterize them) Life narratives are mostly found in western culture, more likely in modern time, and start in early adulthood. Dan mcadams: personality is the study of the whole person as a unique individual came up with the big 3 levels framework. Life story includes your parent"s history, where you grew up, how many siblings you have etc. when you become close with someone, you get an idea of how the person thinks of their life as a whole. Mcadams thinks that personality should study the personality as a whole. Narrative identity: the internalized and evolving story of the self that the person consciously constructs to bind together the many different aspects of the self. It is also highly integrative and can make sense of seemingly different aspects of our personalities.
