PSYC 427 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Deep Cerebellar Nuclei, Volt-Ampere, Biceps
Document Summary
Outer cortical area of cerebellum + deep nuclei. Cortical motor areas receive inputs from cerebellum that come out from deep nuclei. Efferents coming out from cerebellum come out from cerebellar peduncles. Primary efferent to cerebral cortex come out from cerebellar peduncle. Cerebellum gets two inputs: through middle cerebellar peduncle (cortex pontine nuclei cerebellum). Outputs come out through superior cerebellar peduncle thalamus. Injections into pontine nucleus retrograde transport of hrp into sites with cerebral cortex. Logic is that the pontine nucleus is source of inputs to cerebellum. So where pontine nucleus gets its inputs can see what in cortex ends up in cerebellum. Areas that project to pontine nuclei are motor areas, parietal cortex, there"s a little in prefrontal, hardly anything from visual/auditory cortex. 17,18,19 there are few visual inputs that end up in cerebellum. The other area that has input into the pontine nuclei is the cuneate nucleus.
