Socialization: the lifelong process by which we learn our culture, develop our sense of self, and become functioning members of society. Gender socialization: the process by which individuals learn the cultural behaviour of femininity or masculinity that is associated with the biological sex of female or male. Intimately related to social constructionism: e. g. , blue vs. pink. Social constructionism - theory of knowledge in sociology and communication theory that examines the development of jointly constructed understandings of the world that form the basis for shared assumptions about reality o. Social construction and socialization heavily weigh in on each other: a lot of what we are socialized to believe with regards to our culture, values, what is appropriate, changes overtime because of social and cultural factors o. Colour - colour is socially constructed when certain colours are associated with certain ideas, things, or groups of people. It wasn"t until the 1950"s that our current colour scheme was widely accepted.
