Hookups: sexual events that occur outside of an exclusive relationship, often without a prearranged date, involving varying degrees of interest in a relationship, that may or may not involve oral sex and intercourse. Conservatives = argue that hookups are damaging to women and that sex should be limited to serious relationships, to marriage o. Think that changes in gender and sexuality have gone too far and we are losing our morality. Feminist sociologists also focus on negative aspect on hookup culture o o. But they focus on sexual assault and sexual harassment. They believe gender and sexual changes haven"t gone far enough. Some argue that this hookup culture is an avenue for women sexual agency. Real focus should be on the double standards and how it has changed overtime as well. Double standard: men and women are evaluated and treated differently for having done or said the same thing. Sexual double standards have progressed significantly over the last several decades.
