Document Summary

Soci 265 war, states, and social change: The thing which is globalized the most successfully in the 20th century is the nation-state. All the issues of this course are being played out in front of our eyes every day. War and conflict can take on many forms. Ex: 20, 000 people in greece trying to get into macedonia (most are syrians). The russians are bombing these areas and cleansing syria of these individuals, therefore they"re putting a strain on the eu with all of these migrants arriving. Someone is doing something to make things happen at all times. He is trying to track actions to certain capitalist corporations/governments. He is representing old fashioned marxist theory. Simply exploiting the rest of the world is necessary for capitalist to survive. We could not be rich without exploiting them. Ex: 1820s/1830s in india, the british realized they had an excess of opium.
