Why is it necessary for governments or organizations to justify violence: so any uprising can be justified. In some societies acts of violence are deemed necessary for constructing a sense of hegemonic masculinity or dominant cultural ideals of maleness: ex. Male prestige or respect is won on the battlefield and shown in acts of bravery, in horse raids or battle against the enemy. There are culturally constructed ideas of maleness. You have to prove you are and ideal male. Horses are a sign of male authority and prestige. All the men have a coup stick in which the notate on. Every time you win a coup you mark it on the stick.
