Fieldwork immersion within a society: long term (a year or more) Diferent anthropologists perform diferent kinds of ieldwork: archaeologists and paleoanthropologists excavate in the ield. So, regardless of which sub-discipline of anthropology you do, ieldwork involves: Long-term research (at least one year) excavaion methods in archaeology and physical; human interacions for cultural and linguisics: use of both qualitaive data (interviews, paricipant observaion) and quanitaive data. Qualitaive data human interacions you have with people (ex. Quanitaive data staisics generated from surveys, etc. Set limited number of responses that you can provide. Informed consent: allowance to come and work in the community, keep them anonymous, permission by the government, community, and individuals. Paricipant observaion interacing closely with people on a daily basis, someimes living with or near them, and oten paricipaing aciviies or aspects of daily life. Three sources of data obtained in ieldwork: people"s own understandings of the rules they share, code of conduct or cultural expectaions within the community.
