The first industrial revolution was of one of textiles and merchandise, as opposed to science based progress. Germany would rise up to become the first society recognized as industrial. Russia starts to move into industrial plant and railways as well. The invention of electricity was a colossal leap forward. Streets lit up, but a whole segment of society went out of business. Electricity becomes a hallmark of the second industrial revolution. After that, we get the high-rise buildings, and the wheels were set in place for the beginnings of the modern city. All of these called for the beginning of a new form of organization called the corporation, which started to pull different businesses together, started to employ masses of people.
