Protect species (another category of species) used to be threatened and endangered, protected by laws, very little human involved, protected in zone. Loss of species results in the loss of genes. It represents the sum of all of the genomes on earth. Intrinsic value: other species have value for their own sake, organism should have the moral and basic right to exist. Although its only a small portion of the earth"s surface, it holds many terrestrial species; function and role provide us a lot of knowledge.
