Society: the body of institutions and relationships within which people live, the conditions in which such relationships are formed. Folk culture?: a particular way of life (knowledge, beliefs, law, customs) Media: allows us to share in and understand society and culture. Politics: the process through which people make collective decision, often preceded by public discussion. Media may reflect broader political discourses subconsciously (i. e. syrian refugee crisis: canada vs. =$ billions; employment: individual role: media and identity. Knowledge and history are held by people, or groups of people: this leads to close-knit community that must stay together through time to survive. Oral tradition (e. g. greek epic poetry) allows for flexibility, adaptability, and stability. Development of written language and laws allowed the roman empire to expand its power and territory. Literacy allows for the visual representation of ideas and the ability to compare and contrast them.
