Regulates conduct of society through enforced rules - enforceable by court orders and decisions. Previous court decisions (precedents) - certain decisions have been made but set laws have not. Federal or provincial (either passed by f or p government) been passed. Both of these sources are sensitive to society"s changing needs. Our law is based on one basic presumption: everyone is assumed to know every law. Implication our law is based on a false assumption o. To deal with this, must have people know the law - in ontario, entitled to one half hour free legal advice on any topic. Preventive medicine (vaccination) vs. preventive law (steps taken to avoid legal difficulties - things you can do to avoid difficulties that you don"t have to do) Rules of practice, for example what court you go to, what papers need to be filed, etc. o o. Public law - involves the participation of government.
