Scienists have theorized that a cloud of gas and dust in space was disturbed by a supernova. This caused the formaion of a solar nebula (latened cloud of gas and dust) Centre of solar nebula grew hoter resuling in the formaion of the sun. Outer edges cooled causing clumps of paricles to sick together and form planets. Galaxy: cluster of billions of stars, our solar system makes up a iny porion of the milky way galaxy. Star: a hot glowing ball of gas that generates energy by convering hydrogen to helium. 30 quinillion km from the centre of the galaxy. Takes light nearly 100 000 years to travel from one side of the galaxy to the other. The core of the sun is 15 million degrees celsius. Outermost is called photosphere, about 6000 degrees celsius. Energy from the sun control the earth"s climate system. Earth only receives one/2 billionths of the sun"s total energy.
