In regard to mineral identity, oxidized iron can often result in reddish-brown coloured soils, which can be very useful in determining the mineral content. The colour can also affect the temperature of the soil, specifically in the winter due to the absorption of solar radiation: consider the colour of each of the three soil samples in the data table. Identify what minerals or materials may be present in soil sample #1, sample #2, and sample #3 based on the colour of the soil sample (3 marks) Sample 2 (dark grey/black with blue tint): higher manganese content.
