Will be one of the largest created reservoirs in the world. Increased co2 emissions (submerged biomass: and methane, lake turkana (desert lake) Increased salinity: social/economic, eliminates traditional farming techniques (flood retreat agriculture, grazing) Irrigation reduces lake levels and area for cultivation: reduced fish catches, conflict between indigenous tribes in lower omo river valley, resettlement upstream.
