We will be watching the chapter on the east coast. Poultry processing plant (20-40km downstream effect: causes enlargement of liver in skinny fish, reduced baby fish and density. Dams in river block way of fish when going to spawn. Atlantic salmon is one of the casualties: bay of fundy stocks are endangered, st. john river has been the main producer of the salmon stock, due to changes out in the ocean. However, a lot of it has to do with the restriction of fish to their natural habitat. As you increase productivity too much, we create blooms that will decrease levels of oxygen too much? (not good for fish) Agricultural runoff increases algae in the water. Public needs to be more aware of the condition of the water: sending students to be aware and shit. No atlantic river is a bigger dumping ground than the st. john.
