Ex) designing a vegetable peeler for someone for arthritis. The conventional vegetable peeler did function, was durable etc. Their solution was to use a bicycle hand grip on the end of the vegetable peeler, making it easier to use for everyone. Sam designed this for his wife betsy who was trying to peel apples for a pie. Sam was not a designer he contracted the work (and it ended up being very profitable)
