Three types of services: consumer, business and public. Employment has grown more rapidly in some services than in others. Each of the 3 types of services is devided up into several major subsectors. Consumer services: provides services to individual consumers who desire them and can afford to pay for them. Nearly one half of all jobs in the united states are in consumer services. Four main types of consumers services are in us. One fourth of all jobs in us are in this sector. Provide security and protections for citizens and businesses. About 16% of all us jobs are in public sector. This includes jobs like government officials, garbage men, and park workers. May have same jobs but in different sectors. Business services: jobs expanded most rapidly in professional services. Consumer services the most rapid increase was in provision of health care. Public services the share of employment in public services has declined during past 2 decades.
