Document Summary

Being ignorant, i have always demonstrated a strong opinion against two-tiered healthcare systems; however, the debate forced my eyes open. The usa is a powerful, attractive, and world leading country. Our side of the debate (universal healthcare) primarily focused on costs reductions and differences (comparing to the usa), benefits of wait times, healthiness of populations, no financial barriers etc. However, melisa schupp (debater) and jack richardson (rebutter) both had exceptional defenses and were accurately debating our side enough for everyone else. Jack researched and found that a shift from universal healthcare will actually increase wait times, studies that proved private clinics inferior to public, and creates a social divide. Jack also found an interesting case study of the canadian government trying to establish a public/private ownership hospital in brampton, ontario. However, it was million over budget with one third of the beds intended.
