Canada"s terrestrial ecozones: although all the provinces are dominated by forest land, forest types differ significantly, canada has eight major ecozones: boreal cordillera, pacific maritime, and montane. Cordillera; boreal plains, taiga plains, and boreal shield; mixed wood plains and atlantic. Boreal cordillera: the boreal cordillera ecozone is found in northern bc and southern yukon; the rich resources in this ecozone have fostered a number of industries. Pacific maritime coast: the pacific maritime ecozone stretches along the entire bc coast and is characterized by the influence of the pacific ocean; forestry is a major industry in most of this ecozone. It is dominated by generally long and cold winters: near the summits, lichens are found whereas in valleys pine trees dominate, forestry dominates, particularly in the northern interior, other activities include mining, oil and gas, tourism, agriculture. Boreal plains: the boreal plains ecozone extends from the southern part of the yukon down into southeastern manitoba.
