When french revolution broke out in 1789, vincent oge from the carribbean was in france for business and owned a bunch of commercial businesses with slaves. He was inspired by the freedom, and principals of liberty and tried to bring the french constutionalism back to the carribean. The colonies were granted at the time (1790) freedom to do be self-administrative. So he created a band of 250-300 rebel groups to go back to the island and arrest plantation owners. He was caught by the spanish occupying side of the carribean island and tortured. Cultural national revolution:the oge insurrection was a prelude to the haitian revolution in august. 1791 where a black government got in power in 1804. At this time other countries were givening to revolt by having their own cultural people in power. There was a cultural unity to have their own ethnic nation-states.
