His propaganda was showing that antony was a betrayer. 30 bce: deaths of antony (fell on his sword), cleopatra (took a poisonous asp to her bosom) and caesarion dispatched) 1st settlement of 27 bce: annual consulship, and provinces of spain, gaul, cilicia, Cyprus, syria, and egypt for 10 years (legates- deputy to each of these rebellious states) 2nd settlement of 23 bce: he resigns consulship (open to election for senators) and takes proconsular role.
