{family} is a social group characterized by common residence, economic cooperation, and reproduction. It includes adults of both sexes, at least two of whom maintain a socially approved sexual relationships and one or more children, own or adopted, of the sexually cohabiting adults (murdock, 1949:1) Heterosexual, nuclear family, family of procreation, support family members economically. Family of orientation, family"s with no children, people who live together that are no married, extended family. The roles in which family members are expected to complete, how many people are in the family. Older families: like a tree, there were at least 4 or 5 children. 20 years difference between a mother and a child. Families only have two or three generations in them. Impact on the family structure and family relations. People get to know younger and older members of the family. Increased co-survivorship: no other time in history where there has been middle aged and older adults alive at the same time.
