Historically, both ocd and ptsd belonged to anxiety disorders, sharing core feature (anxious distress). Force us to ask questions about how we separate one disorder from another. If we knew the boundaries, then they may actually shift. If someone says i have ocd, it conveys different meanings: pstd and ocd often result from traumatic events or episodes, compulsions often follow trauma, yet crucial differences. To be diagnosed, a person (or loved one) must have been exposed to a traumatic event, third party exposure involving actual or threatened death.
