HTHSCI 1H06 Lecture 6: Week 3 Hemostasis & Lymphatics
Document Summary
Addiion of ani-a serum or ani b serum type which contain anibodies against those anigens will cause a reacion that indicates blood type. Donor rbc"s mixed with paient serum (ensure there is no gluinaion reacion occurring, clomping of rbcs) Rejecion due to the presence of ani-a anibody in the recipient (incompaible with a anigen) o o o o. Rh anigen on rbc surface = rh+ o. Anibodies develop only in rh- blood type & only with exposure to the anigen (rh+) Mother: rh- who has a baby who is rh+ normally fetal & maternal blood do not mix, however, at birth (not before) can have some mixing of blood at the placenta. First baby in this case will be ine. Between the pregnancies if the rh blood has leaked across the membrane & gone into the maternal circulaion the mother is now going to generate anibodies against the rh anigens.
