Document Summary

The three cell cycle stages called g1, s and g2 make up. February 2, 2016 interphase, m is the short mitosis phase (cell division). During the s-phase of the cell cycle dna is replicated and histone and other protein synthesis is greatly increased. G2 is where preparation for cell division occurs. In normal cells it should not proceed to mitosis if there are errors. Once replicated and divided, cells can further divide or can enter a resting phase (go) where they can stay or be induced back into the cycle. Non dividing cells such as neurons will stay in the resting phase. When mutations arise it leads to a lack of control of the cell cycle. We start off with a single set of 46 chromosomes, they are duplicated, the cells divide and we end up with two diploid cells. If the cells are ova or sperm cells, miosis must occur and it will result in two haploid cells.
