KINESIOL 2E03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Lateral Condyle Of Femur, Fibular Collateral Ligament, Lower Extremity Of Femur

29 views7 pages

Document Summary

Rounded structure; large surface on femur / tibia: medial side is larger due to the way we stand/walk. More weight sitting on medial side more development on medial condyle side. Lateral condyle runs a bit longer back to front but overall smaller: ligament attachments on non-articular surfaces (on sides) Epicondyles: for ligament attachments, sticks out a bit more than condyles, small projections on the outer sides of condyle. Intercondylar notch (femur: notch/space between the condyles where cruciate ligaments pass, space or acl and pcl. Trochlear notch/surface: surface on the front of femur between the condyles on the front, groove/space where the patella fits on top, space, not an articular surface itself. Space between femur and tibia; not congruent, don"t fit exactly. Two smooth articular surfaces on top of tibia, medial surface is larger. Intercondylar area is everything in between articular surfaces: separated into anterior and posterior intercondylar surfaces. Separated by intercondylar eminence: attachments for menisci and cruciate ligaments.
