Anatomy: scientific discipline that investigates the body"s structure name, different parts of the body. Structural & functional organizations (different level) chemical level: interaction of atoms, chemical nature, cell level: structural and functional unit of living organisms. Tissue level: group of similar cells and the materials surrounding them. Organ level: two or more tissues functioning together. Organ system level: group of organs functioning together. Body erect, face forward, feet together, palms face forward. Inferior (caudal): toward feet/ away from the head. * superior/inferior: only use for body parts for on head, neck or torso, not limbs. Proximal & distal: used to describe linear structures. Proximal: close to, nearer distal: more distance. Superficial & deep: relative to the surface of the body. Superficial: closer to the outside of the body. Deep: closer to the middle/inside of the body.
