Document Summary

Tissue are group of specialized cells that surround substances. Blood and bone are both formed from connective tissue. Extracellular matrix composition of non-cellular substance around the cell. Epithelium (epithelial tissue) protective covering of surfaces inside and outside the body a lot of cells with very little extracellular matrix avascular and capable for regeneration (repair when it damaged) covers body surface and forms glands. Lining of digestive, respiratory and urogenital systems. Lining in heart and blood vessels (endothelial) Free (apical): has opening to environment or within the body. Basal surface: where epithelium attach to basement membrane. Lateral surface: where epithelium attach to each other. Attach to basal burface, and underline connective tissue (blood supply) Formed by secretion of both epithelium and connective tissue. Act as a glue, holds cells within the epithelium tissue together. Does not contain its own cells (acellular)
