People are moivated to demonstrate and feel competence. Moivaion is inluence by personal meaning one assigns to perceived success and failure. Three core components: percepions of ability have to difereniate between ability and efort, moivaional climate (what people have experiences in sports) Created by others involved: disposiional goal orientaions/percepions. Key factors inluencing: developmental, disposiion, moivaional climate all afect psychological state, this afects the moivated behavior (choice, efort, persistence, problem solving, emoions) Undifereniated concept of ability: an inability to or a choice not to difereniate between ability and efort, working hard is equated with ability. Difereniated concept of abiliies: a person is able to and chooses to difereniate between ability and efort. Young children unable to difereniate between ability and efort. 7-9: don"t disinguish between efort and ability, concept of diicult develops, some tasks are harder than others, efort is cause of outcomes, if you try harder you may accomplish more.
