Groups have been deined by a: common fate: something happens to 1, happens to them all, mutual beneit: things are shared, social structure: responsibiliies and structure, interacion and communicaion, self-categorizaion: team name, common goals and objecives. The group as a beneit: two heads are beter than 1, the more the merrier, strength in numbers. The group as a liability: three is a crowd, if you want things done right, do it yourself. Factors in composiion of group that inluence them: personaliies, environmental issues, voing methods, group cohesion. Member atributes and group environment lead to group structure group cohesion group processes. Group processes lead to individual outcomes and group outcomes. Steiner"s model: actual producivity = potenial producivity process losses. Moivaion losses: social loaing: team members put in less than 100% efort due to moivaion losses (e. g. free rider efect, sucker efect, one person in the group doesn"t carry the weight, others compensate for it.
