Document Summary

Job security and how much security a job gives you. Speaks to both conditions of a job and the situations that it leaves a worker with (the life they have) If someone feels secure and their family feels secure because of a certain job, that is not precarious labour. If someone and their family feel insecure with their work, that is precarious work. Those working precarious jobs are left with a life of anxiety, uncertainty and in- consistent income, the impacts become more pronounced over time. Lack of continuity, lack of benefits, greater risks, lack of protections and lack of control. Its meant to evoke a group of workers, but not all the same way, there is a range. The next, higher level, is where the people receive low pay, reduced benefits and shorter contracts. This includes temporary worker programs; their jobs depend on being in canada and if they lose their job they can no longer live there.
