Workers want to be apart of a union, but the employees won"t deal with the union. The unions cant strike over certification or during organization drive. Union and unions activists get protection against unfair labour practices ex. hiring, promotions, discrimination within the workforce . Once a union is formed, they protect them selves for decertification but exclusivity gives them protections. Financial security - once unions, especial large ones with many members, are created, the employer will collect its dues for them (mandatory deductions, tax, pension, union dues) Core part of wagner model is that the union can only strike at certain times, almost all the time you can"t strike when a collective agreement is in affect.
