MEDRADSC 1B03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 24: Thoracic Vertebrae, Scoliosis, Leydig Cell
Document Summary
Time of full change: psychological, physiological, & sociologic. Hypothalamus releases gonadotropin releasing hormone which stimulates the pituitary gland to secrete gonadotropins (luteinizing hormone or follicular stimulating hormone) Both lh & fsh support further development of ovaries & testes. Luteinizing stimulates the leydig cells which release & produce testosterone. More muscle; use steroids to bulk up if there is not enough muscle but can lead to detrimental effects to the. Starts & ends later kidney & liver (filters everything in the body) Everything is changing which can lead to abnormalities. Osteoporotic curves can occur causing the body to compress & pushes the spine further forward. Movements happen bc your body is trying to keep ears over shoulders & hips. An increase in convexity of the thoracic spine; is there when we are hitting puberty. Occurs when teens hunch over (self-conscious about breasts, taller than peers) or when skeletal muscle is inadequate.
