Feminism isn"t just one thing it is a range of ideas or approaches or movements: In response to historic discrimination, exploitation and oppression of women. Working towards equal rights (political, social, economic) Challenging systems of domination that permeate culture on many levels (gender, race, class etc. ) As a movement, largely associated with the 19th and 20th centuries: often understood in waves . Often associated with countries like britain/us: but there are feminist forces in all countries of the world. When it is referred to as waves is means: first wave woman"s movement, Suffrage movement, the 2nd wave which broadened the movement (women"s rights economically/employment opportunities) etc. Traditional peace studies work: not much mention of women at all not unusual. Is largely about men"s involvement in conflict: men are identified as the main or sole actors in armed conflict.
