Says a conflict is not only formed by direct violence. Conflict happens in a holistic way with structural dimensions (c) = structural violence. Social situation (social and political power imbalances) Contradiction incompatibility of goals (b) = cultural violence. Justification (ideology stating that somehow people deserve it) Attitude parties perceptions of themselves and others (a) = direct violence. Conflict analysis: useful in many areas. Pillar 1: elements of the conflict, parties, issues, objectives, means, orientations. Pillar 2: causes of the conflict, individual, societal, international, global/ecological. Pillar 3: how to intervene the conflict, prevention, management, settlement, resolution, transformation, provention, 3rd party approaches. 2 conflicting opinions does not equal conflict. Trying to see who is best not actually trying to hurt each other. Not : differences of opinion, disputes, competitions, violent (all the time, negative (all the time) Parties fighting for something they cannot both have at the same time. Both parties find what they want is equally valuable.
