Document Summary

We tend to perceive what we expect to perceive. Perceptual expectations are going to shape our perceptions. One"s perceptual expectations are part of what defines what heuer calls one"s mind-sets and mental models: expectations are at the basis of what heuer calls mental models. It"s like seeing what you want to see: for example, you want to see that people are happy so you don"t see them as unhappy. First must define/determine perceptual expectations: past experience, professional training, cultural norms, organization norms, the context in which it occurs. Our perception works to analyze visual info, process it, and output evaluations. We are constantly using info to make judgements. These patterns form a mindset that predisposes analysts to think in certain ways. A mindset is akin to a screen or lens through which one perceives the world . We are always evaluating info we are receiving.
