We cannot take for granted that we know what conduct is, and what "the good" is and simply combine those together in various ways for we shall not know what good conduct is" (132: e. g. If we move from the good" to the right" as in utilitarianism we get. Pleasure is good" conduct that increases pleasure is right". But this essentially says nothing more than what is right is what is good, because what is the good is good and promoting that is right". If it is permissible to ask is all pleasure good?" we are then distinguishing pleasure" from the good" and are no longer able to reduce the good" to pleasure". Moore: it seems that we have a concept of the good, but we do not know what good" actually is.
